I really really like Mr Darcy... For many reasons he is the most charming man in the world. He is good looking and rich, he is a shy man, he is happy when he stays with people he knows well, he is a man of deep feelings. But the most important thing is the deep love he has for Elisabeth... Every woman dreams a man that loves her completely, that sees only her best characteristics, that can stand foolish mothers, stupid sisters and boring relatives. I think all women in the world have the right to find their own Darcy, and I am sure I could fall in love only with such a wonderful person... When I read P&P for the first time I completely fell in love with Mr Darcy...
P.S. I hope people can understand what I wrote, since I am italian and I am not sure I am very good in speaking English...

MrsDarcy wrote: It really depends on my mood. At times I think Elizabeth has to always be on her guard to not disappoint Darcy and other days I think Knightley only sees Emma has a pet of sorts. So who do I choose? Hmmm...right now I am in the mood for Darcy. I think Linda Berdoll got it right laying the public Darcy aside behind closed doors Darcy is an unguarded passionate man and I could use some of that right now. I am afraid my husband is more of a Mr. Bennett.
Linda Berdoll obviously did not read Pride and Prejudice. If she had she would have known that Georgiana was named for her father and mother, George and Anne Darcy, and not Georgiana, the duchess of Devonshire the distant aunt of Princess Diana-whom she claimed that Fitzwilliam and Georgiana Darcy's father supposably had an affair with. She would also know Mr. Collins first name was William. She would know it was Elizabeth Bennet not Elisabeth Bennet. all those mistakes in her novel showed me that she had never read the novel by Jane Austen. I am pretty sure that Linda Burdell based her trashy porn novel on a wet Colin Firth portraying Mr. Darcv and not Jane Austen's Mr. Darcy.
Jane Austen was a woman ahead of her time -nevertheless- that "sequel" must have the poor woman turning over in her grave!

i also like Col. Christopher Brandon .. i dare say he has similarities with Darcy. Being quiet and reserved, but also lovely. Actually in the NOVEL colonel Brandon's first name is never told to us. Only in Emma Thompson's S & S is his name Christopher.

Darcy...Not because he is rich, tall, handsome,respected...what makes him so great is the fact that he chose Elizabeth. Not one of those dim witted socialites. She was a REAL person. Like so many men, he chose a woman who told him no. She was a challenge to him. She got under his skin. Just like an itch that takes a lifetime to scratch. God I love that!

Whilst without doubt in terms of sexual appeal Darcy is the only one for most women (and indeed some blokes) out there in terms of good men I too think Mr Bennett deserves a mention. How that poor fellow remained sane, honourable and considerate with a wife like that and a daughter like Lydia is beyond me. It shows a great strength of character.

Darcy is the shy type and I guess that is why people mistook him for being proud since he was only acquainted with people of his own party and refused to become familiar with others
